Why Ibiza for clubbing holidays

For over 40 years Ibiza has been recognized as the leading clubbing mecca for dance music fans, starting with the disco era right up to the present day Ibiza has attracted the hippest crowds of holidaymakers.

The tiny isalnd off the south coast of Spain, a part of the Balearic island neighboring Menorca and Majorca, Ibiza has great weather all year round but things really start to heat up on the island in June when the 8 superclubs on the island throw open their doors for the summer party season.

Although Ibiza has many popular sightseeing hotspots the clubs in Ibiza are the main attraction for tourists during the summer months. Some of the most famous names in Ibiza clubbing are:

  • Pacha (open all year)
  • Amnesia
  • Eden
  • Privilege
  • Es Paradis
  • Space
  • El Divino (closed in 2010)
  • DC-10 (reopening in 2010)

But in addition to these big names there are scores of smaller venues and music bars located across the island, many of which you will need either a worker or local to help you uncover!

The big draw of Ibiza 2012 holidays for clubbing are these clubs and the DJ's which they attract. Nightclubs are nothing without the big names behind the decks and because of Ibiza's excellent reputation and the guaranteed crowds which clubs on the island can draw the Ibiza nightclubs are able to book the top names DJ's from the dance music scene for residencies which last or the full summer season. big names DJ's like Pete Tong, Paul van Dyk and Tiesto play every week of the season in Ibiza and every night of the week you can find top name DJ's at one of the big clubs or even at the more intimate pre-club bars like Cafe Del Mar or Cafe Mambo.

Although stricter than it once was Ibiza has a certain degree of tolerance towards clubbing culture including alchohol licencing and drug enforcement whic is an additional draw. However in recent years the Ibiza council have come down harder on drug dealers and club who open past their alloted opening hours. Although the 24 hour party scene has died a bit of a death you can still party the night away and typically find after parties at Ibiza hotels, villas or beaches if you want to keep the party going past sunrise.

I love Ibiza; definitely my favourite place in Europe. Recommend food and drinks at Kanya for the sunset before hitting the strip for a few, ending up at Es Paradis.
